Crusaid is looking for the bold and the fearless from all over the country to raise money by skydiving and parachuting - and it needn't cost you a penny! You’ll be glad to hear that on Saturday I managed to complete my parachute jump and it was absolutely amazing, travelling from 13,500 ft at speeds of 120mph and experiencing 50 seconds of free fall, there really is nothing quite like it! There are three different types of parachute jump for you to choose from. 10,000 ft Freefall Parachute Jump Technically this jump is called a "Tandem Skydive" - a Skydive because you will be freefalling through the air (without the parachute deployed) for several thousand feet and a Tandem because you will be harnessed to a professional parachute instructor at all times throughout the descent. This is the only way you can jump from such an altitude without spending thousands of pounds becoming a freefall parachutist. This has got to be THE chance of a lifetime! Minimum sponsorship required: £375 (Crusaid receives at least £100) Let's Jump! Back to Jumps List... 3,000 ft Static Line Square Parachute Jump From the moment you step into the aircraft you will be securely attached to a "static line" which is designed to automatically open your parachute for you as you exit the aircraft. With just one day's training you will perform the jump SOLO from 3,000 feet using the latest square parachute design. Completion of this training course is the first step to becoming a qualified sky-diver - you will receive a British Parachute Association approved certificate to prove you have attended the course! Minimum sponsorship required: £350 (Crusaid receives at least £100) Let's Jump! Back to Jumps List... 2,000 ft Static Line Round Parachute Jump This jump is almost exactly the same as the Static Line Square Jump. The Round Jump uses the older round-shaped parachute (as opposed to the newer square parachute design). The Round Jump is the more traditional parachute jump which takes place from a lower height and is ideal if you want to simply take part in a solo parachute jump as a one-off experience. You will receive a British Parachute Association approved certificate to prove you have attended the course! Minimum sponsorship required: £280 (Crusaid receives at least £100) Let's Jump!
