4 Poofs & A Piano step up to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS

All-singing quartet 4 Poofs & A Piano will be taking steps to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS issues on Sunday 6th June as they take part in Crusaid’s Walk for Life 2010. The fabulous foursome, best known as the house band on BBC’s ‘Friday Night with Jonathan Ross,’ will be joining Europe’s largest fundraising walk for HIV and AIDS alongside a whole host of famous faces. The event will raise vital funds for the charity, and will allow them to continue to support poor and marginalised people living with HIV and AIDS in the UK and internationally.

With the event less than 2 weeks away, the group want to make the public more aware of HIV and AIDS issues and highlight the importance of staying safe this summer.  They hope that by encouraging more people to take part in this year's Walk, it will remind everyone about the importance of HIV and AIDS related issues and make them think about what actions they should be taking to protect themselves.

"Because HIV and AIDS is no longer headline news, a whole generation of young people are growing up with little or no knowledge of this virus.  They don't understand the risks involved in having unprotected sex and they have little knowledge of how many lives this illness has affected and will continue to affect," says Ian of 4 Poofs & A Piano.

"The development of new drugs is helping those living with HIV and AIDS but the best way to eradicate this virus altogether is to stop it spreading and we can only do that by ensuring everyone knows this virus still exists and how to keep themselves protected against it."

Four Poofs & A Piano have been keen supporters of Crusaid over the years and last took part in Crusaid's Walk for Life in 2008 walking next to celebrities Dannii Minogue and Alan Cummings.  Back again this year, the group will also perform for walkers at the very special after-walk party celebrations held in Potters Fields Park.

"Crusaid's Walk for Life is our single-largest fundraising event.  It raises vital funds for the charity's work and also reminds people that HIV and AIDS issues have not gone away," says Jordan Hay, Chief Executive.

"We're really grateful for the support that Four Poofs & A Piano have shown Crusaid and hope that with their help our message can reach out to even more people."
