Crusaid and Terrence Higgins Trust have announced merger

Crusaid and HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust have today announced their merger.  The final agreement was reached on Friday 11th June.  The merged organisation aims to preserve a much-needed safety-net for people with HIV living in poverty and strengthen fundraising for HIV in the UK.

Jordan Hay, Chief Executive of Crusaid, said: "We initiated this merger to ensure that our hardship fund can continue to make a vital difference to the ever-increasing numbers of people diagnosed with HIV each year in the UK.

"THT shares our vision and values and we are excited about the opportunities to support people with HIV that this merger presents."

Senior staff members from both organisations will immediately begin work on a renewed anti-poverty strategy in support of people with HIV based on research and experience from both organisations.

Thank you for making Crusaid's Walk for Life 2010 the best yet!

Crusaid would like to say a massive thank you to every single person that took part and volunteered at Crusaid's Walk for Life 2010.

Over 2,000 of you took to the streets of the capital on Sunday 6th June to help Crusaid celebrate the 21st Birthday of Crusaid's Walk for Life.  There were walkers of all ages clad in some spectacular fancy dress costumes who all aimed to raise vital funds for Crusaid's work helping poor and marginalised adults and children living with HIV and AIDS.

Joining the wonderful walkers were a host of famous faces including 4 Poofs & A Piano, Hollyoaks star Glen Wallace and chart-topping band The Feeling.  The day did not disappoint and the sun shone on London town as walkers strolled the 10km to the finish line to enjoy an afternoon filled with food, drink and live entertainment including exclusive performances from 4 Poofs & A Piano and The Feeling.

It is estimated that this year's Crusaid's Walk for Life has raised an astonishing £250,000 so far, and the money continues to roll in as all walkers are still able to continue fundraising up until the beginning of September when the sponsorship window closes.

Without everyone's generous donations and kind support we would not be able to continue our important work helping people affected by HIV and AIDS living in the UK and internationally.
